What do administrators need to know about the Khan Academy reimagined experience?
The reimagined Khan Academy experience offers a more streamlined and engaging learning experience for students and teachers. As mentioned in this blog post, these updates were piloted in schools, and designed with direct input from teachers to better support instruction, reporting, and student motivation. We are excited to get your school(s) started on the reimagined Khan Academy!

Section 1: When are the platform changes coming?
This will be a rolling release for all teachers and students enrolled in a class on Khan Academy. Please see below for the timelines based on where you are located:

Late June 2026: USA (including Khan Academy Districts partners)

July 2026: North America, Europe, East Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Ecuador and Vietnam

Including Khan Academy District partners in Vietnam and Pakistan

Including Khan Academy District partners in Vietnam and Pakistan

Early 2027: All remaining teachers across the globe
- Including all remaining Khan Academy District partners (Brazil, India, Peru, Bangladesh, Chile)
Section 2: What product changes are happening, and what resources can I share with my teachers about them?
- The core teacher, student and parent functionality of Khan Academy is not going anywhere, and will remain free!

This includes:
- Creating classes and adding students to them
- Making assignments for students
- Teacher reports and CSV exports of assignment scores
- Mappers, Writing Coach (USA only), and the Khanmigo Teacher Tools
- And of course, our library of high quality, standards-aligned content
- Parents being able to connect to their child’s account and follow their learning progress

Section 3: Technical set up instructions for your IT team

If you use allowlists, firewalls, or adblockers:
- Ensure you have added the updated Khan Academy URL to where is applicable

The new site is classroom.khanacademy.org
- To cover it, add khanacademy.org and *.khanacademy.org to your allowlist (make sure to add the star and the period at the beginning!)

If you use Google Workspace for Education:
- Ensure you have added an Access Policy for users who are under 18
- Resource: Google Workspace for Education + Khan Academy: Guide to configuring an access policy
- Teachers will still have the ability to import a Google Classroom roster

If you use the Khan Academy Android or iOS app:
- Please ensure it is updated to version 8.4.1, which is the minimum version for Android and iOS
- The new minimum iOS version is 16.6
Here are a few more bits of relevant information for IT teams + rostering admins:

Students + teachers with existing Khan Academy accounts will still be able to log in with their existing credentials
- Mastery progress and all assignments (other than Course Mastery Goals) will remain on their accounts

Khan Academy’s Clever Library app will be unaffected
- Teachers will see an updated interface to select which of their Clever-synced classes to share with us, but the core functionality remains
- The Khan Academy Clever Library app does not need to be reinstalled
- If you are a Khan Academy District partner, the Clever and Classlink rostering setup processes remain the same
