How do I use Reports to view Activity, Skills, and Assignment score reports?

Khan Academy offers teachers insight to track their students' work on both assigned and unassigned content through a variety of reports. This article will give you an in-depth guide to viewing and understanding the data some of them offer.

1. Activity tab: 

The Activity tab shows the students in a particular class, the total minutes they’ve spent learning, and how many skills they have worked on, leveled up on, and reached the Proficient Mastered level. 

This interactive and customizable report allows teachers to drill into student work by many different metrics, including learning time, skill comprehension, and Mastery levels.

2. Skills tab: 

The Skills tab shows the different skills that are included in a Course, and what Mastery levels the students in your class are at for those particular skills. 

Notable features of the Skills tab:

  • Customizable filters: select which Course, Unit, or Mastery Level you would like displayed.
  • "Only show assigned skills" check box: Select this if you want to only see the data about the content you have assigned to your students through a Unit Mission, or Assignment. Unselect this if you would like to see the student's work from all of Khan Academy, whether you assigned it to them or not. 
  • Click the skill name or the colored Mastery chart next to the skill name to see where your students fall in the Mastery level for that skill. 
  • The "Expand all" and "Collapse all" links open and close all the skills in the unit, and can help save time navigating through the report. 
  • The "View Exercise" link shows you a preview of what the exercise would be if you clicked the "Assign skill" button. 
  • Click on a student's name to be taken to their Individual Student Report with more information about how they have spent their time at Khan Academy.

3. Assignments: 

This report shows your students' scores and completion information for the individual assignments they have been tasked with. 

Teachers can filter by date, course, activity, and students.



You can click the Legend button to view what they mean.


You can also download the Assignment scores report as a CSV file; click Download CSV. We recommend also checking the article How do I download my students’ assignment scores and skills data into a CSV file for more details.

In the reimagined Khan Academy, Mastery-based practice is organized through Unit Missions rather than Course Mastery Goals. Unit Missions show student progress to teachers in smaller chunks, making it easier to spot specific gaps and see exactly where students need support.
