How do I download my students’ assignment scores and skills data into a CSV file?

If you are a teacher who uses Khan Academy in your classroom, you may want an easy way to download your students' assignment scores and skills data. Luckily, Khan Academy offers three ways to download this data into a CSV that you can then use for further analysis and documentation. 

In this article, we will cover the following topics:

To start off, though, let’s answer the question: “What is a CSV?” 
  • A CSV, or Comma-Separated Values, is a type of file that stores data. It's like a simple spreadsheet, but without the formulas and formatting. 
  • You can then open CSV files in programs like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers.
How to download the Assignment Scores Data into CSVs:

There are 3 ways on Khan Academy for you to download your students' assignment data into a CSV. 

  • Option 1 is in the "Reports" tab under "My Classes". 

To download this CSV, follow the steps below:

  1. Click "Download CSV" on the right-hand side of the screen
  2. Select a date range. You'll also have the option to include the average score for any practice activities (exercises, quizzes, and unit tests) in the selected date range.
  3. Click Download CSV.

4. You will see the pop-up window below on your screen, meaning our system is preparing the document for you. Please don’t exit the page until the download is completed and you receive the confirmation below:

  • Option 2 is how to download the CSV for an individual assignment from the Assignments tab.
  1. On the Assignments tab, select the assignment you would like to view
  2. Click download CSV
  3. Or if you're looking for a Unit Mission, click "Student Summary" and then "Download CSV"
  • Option 3 is to download the general class CSV from the Class settings page.

 Click "My Classes" and then "Class Settings". Locate and click "Download CSV".
