What are Readiness Missions and Readiness exercises?

Updated

After a student completes the Readiness Check, Khan Academy automatically creates personalized practice based on the student's results.

This personalized practice appears in two places:

  • A Readiness Mission, which includes all of the student's personalized Readiness exercises.
  • Readiness exercises that appear in the student's Daily and Weekly Missions to help reinforce prerequisite skills before related grade-level work.

You don't need to assign or manage either of these. They're created automatically after a student completes the Readiness Check.

What is a Readiness Mission?

A Readiness Mission is a personalized collection of practice exercises based on the prerequisite skills identified in a student's Readiness Check.

Students can work through their Readiness Mission at their own pace while continuing to complete their assigned coursework.

The Readiness Mission appears on the student's dashboard after they complete the Readiness Check.

What are Readiness exercises?

Readiness exercises are personalized practice exercises that help students strengthen prerequisite skills.

In addition to appearing in a student's Readiness Mission, Readiness exercises may also appear in the student's Daily and Weekly Missions.

When a Readiness exercise is related to an upcoming assignment, it appears before the assigned work so students can review the prerequisite skill first.

If shown in the student's Daily or Weekly Mission, Readiness exercises are identified with a Readiness badge.

How many Readiness exercises will students receive?

The number of Readiness exercises depends on each student's Readiness Check results.

Students who demonstrate strong prerequisite skills may not receive a Readiness Mission. Students with more identified prerequisite skills to review will receive additional personalized practice.

What types of content are included?

Readiness Missions include practice exercises only.

They do not include videos or articles.

Can I edit a student's Readiness Mission?

No.

Readiness Missions are generated automatically from each student's Readiness Check results. Teachers can't add, remove, or edit individual Readiness exercises.

How should students use their Readiness Mission?

Students should work through their Readiness Mission alongside their regular assignments throughout the school year.

The personalized Readiness exercises are designed to reinforce prerequisite skills while students continue learning grade-level content.
