Does the Readiness Check affect my students' mastery, streaks, or Gems?

The Readiness Check includes two separate experiences:

  • the Readiness Check assessment
  • the personalized Readiness exercises students complete afterward

These affect student progress differently.

Does the Readiness Check assessment affect student progress?

No.

Completing the Readiness Check does not affect a student's:

  • Mastery levels
  • Gems
  • Streak
  • Skills to Proficient progress

The Readiness Check is used only to identify prerequisite skills that students may need to practice.

Do Readiness exercises affect student progress?

Yes.

After students complete the Readiness Check, they'll receive personalized Readiness exercises. These exercises contribute to student progress just like other practice exercises on Khan Academy.

Students can also earn a Gems bonus for completing their entire Readiness Mission.

Readiness exercises can help students reach the Proficient level for a skill.

To reach Mastered, students must continue demonstrating their understanding through other mastery activities on Khan Academy.
