How do I assign a Readiness Check to my class?
Assigning a Readiness Check allows your students to complete a one-time assessment that identifies prerequisite math skills they may need to review before beginning grade-level work.
Once students complete the assessment, Khan Academy automatically creates personalized practice based on each student's results. You don't need to configure or assign any follow-up work.
To assign a Readiness Check
- Open the class where you want to create the assignment.
- Click + Add assignment.
- Select Readiness Check.
- Choose the class or students you want to assign it to.
- Click Assign.
After you assign the Readiness Check, it will appear for your selected students. Students can begin the assessment whenever they're ready.
Do I need to choose a grade level or version?
No.
There is only one Readiness Check. Each student automatically receives questions based on their rostered grade level, so you don't need to choose a grade, course, or version before assigning it.
Why don't I see the Readiness Check option?
Readiness Check is only available to users in a USA Partner District (KAD).
If you believe your class meets these requirements but you still don't see the option, contact your school or district administrator.
Can I assign the Readiness Check more than once?
Students can complete the Readiness Check once per school year.
If a student has already completed the Readiness Check in another class, they won't be asked to take it again. Instead, you'll be able to view that student's existing results in your class's Readiness Check report.
When should I assign the Readiness Check?
The Readiness Check is intended to be assigned near the beginning of the school year, before students begin working through grade-level content.
Completing the assessment early gives students time to begin personalized practice on prerequisite skills while continuing with their regular class assignments.
What happens after I assign it?
Students will be prompted to take the Readiness CheckAfter students complete the Readiness Check.
Once the student completes it:
- Each student receives a personalized Readiness Mission based on the skills they need to practice
- Related gap practice is automatically added to students' Daily and Weekly Missions when appropriate
- You can monitor student completion and review class results from the Readiness Check report
You don't need to assign additional practice or manually manage students' Readiness Missions.
