Back to school 2026: New courses, restructures, and revisions coming to our content library
As we head into the 2026 back-to-school season, we’re making a number of updates across Khan Academy courses.
These include revisions to existing courses, new course offerings, and some structural changes to how content is organized.
This article is meant to give a high-level overview of what’s changing. We’ll continue updating it with links to more detailed announcements as they’re published.

Changes you may notice in existing courses
Some courses have been updated in ways that may affect how they look or how students progress through them.
These updates are focused on improving clarity, alignment, and overall learning experience, but may feel like bigger changes when you first see them.
- Reading and vocabulary courses may look different
- Changes to Illustrative Math-aligned courses
- Major changes to World History and Careers courses

New courses and learning opportunities
We’re also introducing several new courses and expanding existing offerings across subjects.
These are designed to support a wider range of learners and classroom needs.
- New Grammar courses for grades 5–10
- New and updated AP® courses
- New TEKS courses for Texas classrooms
- Introducing Math Essentials courses

Additional updates
There are a few additional updates that expand existing content and offerings.
- Changes to personal finance and life skills courses
- New SAT practice and challenge units
