What Khanmigo tools are available to parents?

Khanmigo offers a variety of tools for parents to support your and your children's learning journeys on Khan Academy. 

This article will cover:

1. What features are available for parents who have purchased a Khanmigo plan
2. Where the Khanmigo tools for parents are located
3. How to troubleshoot your account if you are not seeing the parent Khanmigo tools
4. What the experience is if you have both the Parent and teacher roles on your Khan Academy account  

Features for parents who have purchased a Khanmigo plan:

1. Can enable Khanmigo on up to 10 children accounts. 

• They then can view all of their children's Khanmigo conversations through the steps outlined in this article: How do I view my child's Khanmigo chat history?
• Parents will also receive the moderation alerts for any of their children's Khanmigo conversations that were flagged for safety concerns. What happens if my child or student's Khanmigo conversation gets flagged?  

2. Have access to 20 Khanmigo tools right on their Parent Dashboard!

To find these tools:

1. Click "Parent Tools" from the Khanmigo dropdown 

2. Click your name in the top-righthand corner, followed by "Parent Dashboard" and "Khanmigo Tools"

 

If you are a parent but are not seeing the parent Khanmigo tools, please follow the below steps:

1. Visit your account settings page by clicking your name in the top right-hand corner, and selecting "Settings" from the dropdown 

2. Double-check that you have the paid version of Khanmigo. If you have signed up for the free teacher tools only, you won't be able to turn Khanmigo on for your children or access the parent + learner Khanmigo activities. Below is what you will see on your settings page if you fall in this category:

3. Scroll down to the "Roles" section

4. Make sure you have the "Parent" role checked 

If you have both the Teacher and Parent roles turned on for your Khan Academy account: 

• If you have a paid Khanmigo plan, you will see Khanmigo activities pages on both your Teacher Dashboard and the Parent Dashboard
• If you have the free Khanmigo teacher tools plan, you will have one Khanmigo Tools page on your Teacher Dashboard only.
