Is there a limit to the number of students or classes I can have on Khan Academy?

The short answer is yes, there are limits to the number of students and classes you can have on Khan Academy, along with a limit the Khanmigo Teacher Tools and the Khanmigo Writing Coach. However, the limits are quite large and should not hinder your experience on Khan Academy.

Let's dive into the details:

Max number of students and children allowed per teacher account 1000 total students and children
Max number of classrooms per teacher account 100 total classrooms (including parent classrooms)
Max number of students in a single classroom  200 students max in a single class 
Class Snapshot + What should I assign next? Khanmigo Teacher Tools 150 students per class
Max number of students in a class that can receive a Writing Coach assignment  100 students per class

 

Below are a few more important details to know about these roster limits for your Khan Academy teacher account:  

  • Once you have reached the limits for total students and classrooms, you will need to remove students and delete classrooms from your Khan Academy account in order to add new ones. 
    • If you are part of a Khan Academy Districts partnership and your district has rostered your account over the limits, please contact your administrator to have some removed.
  • Error messages will be shown on both your account, and your students/children accounts. Screenshots of these error messages are shown below. 
  • Please note: Khanmigo Writing Coach does not have a user-facing error message at this time. The 100 student limit is our suggestion for optimal use of Khanmigo Writing Coach for the most seamless experience for you and your students.
