An Update on Programming Contests

I can't wait until they come back!

The only official contest I entered here was the Ancient Civilizations one, Is that one still going to be judged and get results released,

Very interesting! I do wish I had participated in more of these over the years, and I do hope they come back.

And I just want to say thank you to you, Evan, and all the other guardians who worked hard on these, it has been a great joy to the KACP! =)

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to these contests over the years. Like many others in the community, I have love participating and seeing what everyone creates! I've been participating in every single one since I first started learning programming and I can see how much I've grown! I'll be looking forward to when they are back! 

I will miss these contests, until they come back. I still remember when I was mistakenly awarded a Golden Winston (technically they aren't Winstons anymore, but they'll always be Winston to me)

I really hope you can bring the official contests back; I've thoroughly enjoyed participating in them over the years! 

Is there a specific reason that you can't run the contests anymore? I've noticed that the judging seems to take progressively longer, so I'm guessing it might have something to do with the fact that the KACP Council is rather small, and mostly inactive.

I feel bad for all the KA users who still have child accounts and who wanted to join in the official contests... now they might not ever get a chance! :( 

Regardless of whether or not they're brought back, I'd like to say thank you to Evan Lewis and the rest of the KACP Council for creating and judging the official contests for all those years. It has really helped me to improve my coding level! :D

maybe if they come back you can make them last on the hotlist longer! since most people never see them unless you check the contests tab. also you could maybe take requests for the topic

I wonder what the results are for the AI contest? Could we also do a .io contest, too? that would be cool

I genuinely hope you conclude to continue them, even if they are changed or revised in some way. Always enjoyed them 

When wis the back - to -school progrram?

Hope you guys decide to bring contests back. I've had lots of fun with them over the years. Having a healthy environment where I could direct my natural competitiveness towards the furtherance of my skills as a software engineer was very helpful, particularly when I was first starting out.

Also... I'd kinda like to pick up a 5th golden Winston someday and complete my badge showcase :)

I think taking a break is a pretty good idea, especially for people who haven't been able to learn code as successfully.

For example, if I choose to join a contest when they come back, I'll be-I hope-better at coding.

I have been lurking around Khan Academy for years, but I ended up taking a long break for a few reasons (I don't mind answering), so people only have known I exist for a very short amount of time, but I've loved that I lurked. Why? Because I've gotten to see people grow in their skills.

I've also found people here in the community I look up to, and I get excited about when they win a context, for example.
