How do I assign a course to my child as a Parent?

The parent tools do not have the functionality to assign work to your child — you will need to enable the teacher/coach tools. To do this, first visit your settings page. Underneath Roles, select Teacher/Coach, and save changes. You should then have the ability to assign content to your child after creating a 'class' for them, and adding them.

Once you have created/transferred over to the Teacher side of things, then;

1) you need to "Add new class" on the right side of the page.

2) Type in your class name.  Since you are a parent, adding the names of your child would make sense here.

3) Click Next

4) Check the course you wish your child to be assigned.

5) Notify your child by one of the 3 options that are currently there (April 24th 2020) and follow the instructions.

IF you wish to delete the class, or edit it, go to the "Class Settings" and you can change the course as they improve their abilities, or you can delete the class if you made a mistake, rename it, etcetera.

where are "Settings" in order to even change that? Mine only gives a "profile"/ no "settings"

You should be able to find it by clicking your name in the top right corner of the screen:

If you can't find it, it may be because you are on the support site (here) instead of the main site.

For completeness, if you have a child under 13 there are additional steps you have to take to make this work.  Do all of the above, then do this:

Once...the child is connected to your account in a parent-child relationship, you will need to adjust their settings for them to be enrolled in a class.
 
To do so, please follow these steps:
 

1. Log into your parent account and click on your name at the top right.
2. From the drop-down menu choose Settings.
3. On the Settings page, scroll down to Child accounts and click the Settings button next to the child's username
4. On their child's Settings, scroll down to Coaches and enable the Can add other coaches feature.

Having similar issues with adding my kids to a class a parent or just assigning them any course.

Looks like it is still impossible to assign courses as a parent for kids under 13 unless you enable add other coaches feature, but intuitively I didn't want to do that, because this will allow my kids to add other coaches.

I guess it is a workaround we have to use as parents unfortunately.
