Hi s201018,
That article was just recently rewritten and published September 29, 2025.
Hope this helps!
Would Khan Academy consider including the update date whenever an article or challenge is changed? This would be especially useful for users who answer other users' questions, so the helper knows whether the content has changed since they last read it.
In the Intro to Computer Science - Python course, the only way I know that some of the instructions for steps in the Challenges have changed is because I had copied the old instructions. Since the only way to see the instructions for a step is to be on that step (which sometimes involves starting over and re-solving the previous steps), I tend to rely on my saved instructions when helping other users. It would be extremely helpful to know whether my saved instructions are still the same as those in the challenge without having to re-do the challenge.
JaniceHolz I definitely understand how that would be useful! I'll share with the CS team.
I know the computing content (challenges, projects) are structured much differently data-wise than our other course content. The articles and regular exercises have detailed revision histories and timestamps, but the CS content does not. So currently I can't see when CS content is updated or what has changed either.
Perhaps an alternative would be to allow the viewer to click back to previous steps of the challenge without needing to restart it?
Being able to click back to see the instructions for previous steps would be great.
Being able to click back and test code for previous steps would be awesome. That would make it much easier to help other Learners who are struggling with a Challenge.
I figured it would probably be so complicated to make such a big change to the Challenges that I didn't think there was any point suggesting it.
