Strange "suggestion" bar shows up while programming

I opened up a new Processing.js program, and I started to type in an ellipse(); command. I took a screenshot of what I saw pop up on the screen:

Is this what you saw? Once I had started typing again and moved my mouse, the little screen did disappear. I've seen this happen before, and as far as I can tell, it looks like it pops up to remind the user the parameters and x and y coordinates of the command, as well as the width and height.

no thats not what I was talking about though I appreciate that you answered to quickly and attempted to understand my very confusing description here is a screen shot of it on another site(dont know why I didnt think of that before)

That is basically guessing what possible line of code you want to write. In one case, if you don’t know how to spell a command, then when you click on the one you want, it’ll auto fill it into your code.

Is that a screenshot of what you saw on Khan Academy? If not, please send a screenshot of what you saw, if possible. I've never seen that type of message pop-up on a Processing.js program before, though it seems to serve the same purpose as the pop-up message I sent you (although in the screenshot you sent me, it appears to suggest a command, rather than show the parameters).

I see it many times when I write code. In my understanding, it’s to fill in whatever line of code that you are typing up.

The screen shot was not taken on khan academy it was taken on code.org it was just an example I know what it does I just want to know how to activate it/why it was there

but you see thats the 'strange' part It happened once for a couple seconds then went away, which is why part of my question is how to activate/de-activate it.  

I don’t code on KA, on other sites. I don’t see it here, but on others, I do. It’s probably just part of the program since I find KA JavaScript a little different from Code.org JavaScript. The staff should add a feature like that.

Khan Academy uses no extensions, not that I know of.

Sorry to bring up an unused thread, but I've encountered this too. Mostly on mobile coding. I actually have managed to capture a screenshot of it, but it isn't attaching.

Hi everyone,

I asked a group of Support Advocates about the suggestion bar. One user said that it was a feature implemented a few years back, but it was retired. After talking about it, I remembered that a few years ago, I too had seen the same message while I was coding on my tablet.

I tried to get it to pop up on my PC and phone, but I didn't get the same message.

To answer the original poster's question, it seems to randomly appear to some users, and there's not a way to get it to show up once it disappears. Apologies for the vague answer, but hopefully it clears things up!

Edit: I received an answer from Pamela, and the suggestion bar is called a documentation helper. It is not retired, as I previously said. It just appears differently to users. One other reason that it's not always visible is that code tries to figure out which pop-up message is appropriate to display (for example, it could be the color picker, or image picker), so it doesn't always show up. If a user has an unofficial Chrome extension installed, then it could also alter the appearance of the pop-up message.

Thanks everyone It happened again on pc to me I wrote one line and it worked then I moved to a different line and the bar went away.

I figured out a way to get it but only for a short period of time, if you open a new program and immediatly start with // then as you begin to type the comment on line one the suggestion bars shows up, every time.

Also I figured out what it was it's called, it is the ace c9 documentation helper
