Energy Points Store

An Energy Points Store would be a bad idea. Its the first step in line to making Khan Academy suck, unless you pay a lot of money. Also, second chance passes wouldn't be needed, as you can retry a lesson if you fail as many times as you need.

An Energy Points Store would be a great idea. It is the first step to make this better. People would want to spend more time on Khan Academy. We could buy avatars and things like that to get people to practice more. No one likes a boring site 

We really do need this, if there's not a store whats the point of energy points? They just sit around doing nothing for anybody. If there was one people would be on khan academy more, trying to get things like avatars, backgrounds, and possibly badges?  

Omg yes! Just maybe don't actually spend the points: you know, like the way the avatars thing is set up. So for instance, earn x number of energy points and get extra backgrounds and whatnot.

You could also do this with achievements. So if you earn a Going Supersonic, for example, you unlock a second chance. But this is a SUPER COOL idea 🤩 

Would be cool if you could earn actual items like Khan Academy Stickers and KA pencils etc... a Khan Academy mechanical pencil that you can only get by earning the points would be pretty sweet.

The purpose of them is that they can help you evolve on your profile pic and to get other skins. It also makes Khan Academy more fun to do. With an energy point store, people could just go on to Khan Academy and buy energy points, and get stuff without actually learning math. THAT is why the energy points store is ruining the purpose of energy points.😏

Energy Points used in a store would be an excellent idea. Energy Points basically mean how much you learn, which can be used in the store. The store should have stuff like avatars, backgrounds or even like you can use your energy points to play games. Like 1000 energy points for 2 minutes of game time. Then Khan Academy should be really entertaining and fun. Kids will like it. Energy Points should not be bought since this is encouraging kids to play while they learn. But Energy Points for Khan Academy is a really, really good idea. I am really positive for it to be added to Khan Academy

They should deffinetly add a energy points shop, people can shop for cool skins, backgrounds, etc, all with energy points.

YES PLEASE!!! My younger sister has trouble with math and Khan Academy has helped her so much. Energy points were a big motivator for her, but as she gets older, she's losing interest so I'm trying to find some way to keep her engaged but it's difficult. This would be perfect for her!!!!!!

Yeah that would awesome, you should be able to buy distinct accessories for your avatar to personalize it

Yeah, without an energy points store, what's the point of energy points?  Give me a ranking or give me something but don't just tell me I have x thousand meaningless energy points -- it's a waste of pixels and my brain energy to think about them.

This is a great idea! Khan Academy has a lot of education based stuff right now but what about the fun part? I assume that kids mostly use this site and I know that kids like to have rewards when they do well. Energy points kinda just sit around watching you right now, but a store would have a great impact! You could have an avatar, or backgrounds. Maybe even get badges and play math games or something. Khan academy should totally look into this!

I think the idea has a good basis, but it would turn Energy Points into a currency that everyone wants. People would be encouraged to cheat, lie, scam, and take advantage of other people, just to gain the points. It should be something to show dedication, not something to buy useless items. I'd recommend adding maybe more point-based badges, but a store is certainly not the answer. This would become a target for cyber-bullying. People would fight over how much expensive items they have. I think the system is fine where it is. If there's a store, kids would start begging for an Energy Point shop, where you could buy energy points. That's not something that's good for a learning platform. It would turn into kids begging their parents to buy them points, and not learning and spending time to earn them.

I also don't understand why it would be good to have a "second-chance pass." It would just mean students could get out of learning, and benefit from it. Also, if you fail a test, can't you just retake it? If you're struggling with a lesson, don't skip it, practice makes perfect!

I think some people are confused about the concept of the store, OP probably meant a place to spend the points you earn not a store for energy points MTX for real money

As a quoted like a year ago i think it would ruin the point of energy points (heh) but it is a good idea so it would be better to have something like more avatars and backgrounds maybe a frame for something etc and making "second chance passes" destroys the point of learning so that is my opinion.

Good idea. but i dont think people will want to spend their points for just that :/ lol, people wanted to earn those badges. and plus if there's a store, people will just spend lots of money to buy points. so whats the point?

EP's were originally meant to show effort on KA, but these days, they turned into some sort of a bragging right with many users who have a lot of EP's saying that they're better. Plus, there's no use of spending energy points if you don't plan on earning them back.

I agree that this idea has both its pros and its cons, but I am definitely thinking we need a store! Some kids need more of a motivation to do their lessons and this system ( earning points from completed lessons and being able to buy stuff such as a second chance pass) should help feel more motivated. It would also be cool to be able to customize our backgrounds and have accessories for the avatars with our mastery points! I hope the Khan Academy Team takes this idea into consideration, as it would really help motivate some people to learn more! Have a great day everyone! :)

Bruh all you guys have been trying to convince them for 5 years. I think it is a great idea but I don't think khan academy cares about what we say.

i don't mean to disagree with anyone but I feel like that would make some people who can't buy energy points cause their parent/parents say no and then their classmate b rags that they just bout it. Energy points are ment to encourage other choldren to learn and if they just bout energy points then they wouldn't have any reason to learn! khan academy would turn into a video game sort of place and no parent would want their child (and i don't mean to speak for other parents this is just my opinion) saying they're doing homework when what they're actually doing is buying energy points and spending them from the store! if you guys aree looking at my avatar  i am telling you i earned this and didn't go to a "energy point store" there are certain places where you can earn lots of energy points and learn at the same time i am not kidding so if you want more energy points look for them! don't look for a "energy points store"
