This is a good idea, and one addition can be: Adding a seperate page when after clicking on mastered/proficient/familiar/attempted takes you to every thing you've done in the past and which you need to get proficient/mastered on.

Even better idea: Bring back the Missions portal. Us legacy users were very familiar with the design and it had a lot of helpful statistics, including (but not limited to) the number of Proficient and Mastered Skills, and progress to badges like Newton and Kepler (and even Atlas if you got close enough).

Whats the mission portal and when was it established?

Basically it was the old KA math course interface. I had used it for ~three years before it was retired, but tbh I do not remember much about it because I was 8 when it was retired. 

See this youtube video for what it looked like. Apparently it also told you how much more you had to do before getting badges (e.g. Magellan after two more mastered skills) among other things. It also recommended skills to you, and yeah that's what I remember about it

I was almost 11 when it retired. I joined KA when I was 6 1/2 so I had some 4 years with the old portal. Still miss it.

I agree that missions should be brought back.

Yeah Missions was a much-needed feature for QoL and I'm sad they took it away.

And if the only problem is the Python3 framework, Laurie @KA you're a KA team member right? I can help port the old Missions board to Python3. I've had 6 years of coding experience with the framework, so I should know my way around things.

They're using Go, not Python 3. I think the reason that so many features were removed is because they wanted the bare minimum of features that'd make KA work. That doesn't really explain the removal of 5*10^5 / Helen Keller / Millionare / Ramanujan / Da Vinci though...

Yeah, they should have kept those, they should really bring those back...

I mean right now the largest EP badge you can get is Frederick Douglass which is 250,000 and Tesla which is 10M, and that's a huge gap

Personally, I am no longer convinced that Khan Academy cares, nor that most of the staff care beyond getting a paycheck.  When I report problems, it is usually way too difficult to get whomever responds to understand my problem report and actually test it in a way that makes sense.  I have been waiting over 4 months for Khan Academy to make a simple change to the transcript of one of the walkthroughs.  
I think Evan Lewis probably cares, but is way overworked.

For my own mental health, I am going to try to take a break from dealing with the problems caused by Khan Academy not fixing mistakes and not making it easy for learners to actually learn.

JaniceHolz Yeah, you kinda have a point. I don't understand why it would take 4 months to roll out a small transcript fix. If I have to weigh in, something is really strange in the system. Where do they get the time to implement an entire levels system with its badges, a Course Mastery graphical UI, migrate their entire codebase from Python 2 to Go, and introduce 32 new avatars, when they've been stalling remaking ONE video for six years and possibly more (as you had noted in another thread), when transcripts take months to fix, and flagged inappropriate posts remain for over a week?

I don't understand why Khan Academy is so dysfunctional.  I feel bad for all the students who are forced by their parents or teachers or schools to use it without proper support or a full main curriculum in the subject.

I tried for 10 months to help users of the 6th grade math course, and kept finding uncorrected mistakes that had been reported several months (or more) before, "corrected" mistakes that amount to a correction box that doesn't even show in full-screen mode, concepts taught out of order, inconsistent switching between multiplication symbols, and other content problems.
Then there's the frustration of being repeatedly accused of being a bot or AI, flagging new disrespectful or unhelpful comments only to have them go unreviewed for weeks or more, posting helpful Tips only to have them drowned out by people making generic "thanks" posts, and Khan Academy's search functions being next-to useless.

If this is world-class education, the standard should be a lot higher.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. Spam is rampant on the Questions and mistakes take so long to correct. It doesn't make sense tho because the KA team has time to add new content and features

Yeah, they should look into creating new content and features, but its not only about new features and content. They try their best to help the world and even with these few minor errors, they make it easier to learn a topic. But yes i agree, the bar needs to be set a bit higher for better and more efficient learning.
