So glad to see new features being added and new lengths to encourage goals! 

I was wondering if there's even 4,950 skills on KA in total. If I count the ones I've completed and not completed I get around 3800-4000 skills which is nearly 1,000 shy of the 4,950 needed to get to that next goal. It'd be awesome to see a breakdown of how many total skills there are.

Another question I had... moving forward, when a skill is deleted, is that then removed from your total? Or, like videos, they stay as part of your overall number. I've definitely mastered more skills than it shows but unfortunately it seems like sections I completed 7-8 years ago that are now deprecated are no longer counted as part of that progress.

Good point! Is maelstrom possible? I heard atlas (mastery in 5000 skills) is possible, but I am not sure...

Hey, ya’ll! If I recall correctly, KA currently has barely over 5000 skills, so this new badge is barely possible (ima go for it)

What I meant was I am missing the badges for skills of levels 5, 10, 15, 25, and 50. Edit: Nvm, I got them at 4am this morning, just too lazy to check.

Same thing happened to me! At first, I got no new badges, even though I should have achieved some of them.  Later, I checked again, and achieved them!

Is maelstrom possible?

I had the same question before we released this badge, but according to our analytics team we currently have about 7000 publicly available skills that you can master. 😅

Maelstrom should be possible. If I recall correctly, the current number of KA skills lies between 5000 and 7500, since Atlas is possible but Artemis is not. In history, Atlas's requirement has increased from 500 to 2000 to 5000, and Artemis's from 750 to 3000 to 7500. These requirements have increased shortly after Atlas becomes possible. Maelstrom is barely short of the Atlas requirement, as you'll obtain Atlas halfway to level 101. Artemis is unobtainable until level 118, which is currently impossible. Please don't raise the Black Hole Badges' requirements any more. If we are at 7000, then Artemis will soon become possible, making it the 4th possible Black Hole Badge.

Note that even if you are at level 101, you may not get atlas. Maelstrom requires proficiency while atlas requires mastery.

True, I had forgotten the difference. I guess I’m just too used to completing mastery challenges I barely have any proficient skills, just mastered skills. Yes, Maelstrom and Herculean are proficiency, while Atlas and Artemis are mastery. Thanks for clarifying.

Finally, something to support me through strict parents forcing me to do nearly college-level math in middle school.

I've been doing College Algebra, Trig, Precalculus, and even College Calculus since about 8th grade. Why? Okay, I'll admit I'm pretty good at math, but the main reason was for the badges. I mean come on, who doesn't love a nice, not-so-easy Black Hole Badge?

I think you guys should make some of the black hole badges easier. I have three khan academy accounts and I if I combined them I would not have a black hole badge

I wish they were easier lol. The easiest is Tesla and you need a 10 mil Energy Point count to get that. I'm barely at 2 mil as it stands right now. (And yes guys I know I've been gone for a while my Khan profile will explain everything)

That is true, yeah. They require years of dedication to achieve. It's crazy. But I mean, worth it yeah.

Agreed. Right now I'm 20% to Tesla and about 30% to Maelstrom, but most of that is coming from my math courses which I'm almost done with (if I recall correctly I have mastered 80% of the "World of Math" so I'm not too far away). The programming courses I've heard also help in this. I took the programming courses a lot but now that I'm working on a project far bigger than the JS they're explaining to me I'll have to find time to do those again later.

Atlas really is a mystery just like Artemis, Atlas used to be 5,000 skills, but now that Maelstrom has taken his place with 4,950 Atlas must have been bumped up along with Artemis....
