I'm new to Kahn Academy and am trying for the first time to save a new exercise assignment to a class. Only the "save for later" button is available - "save" is dimmed out. I have the role of teacher. I don't yet have any students in the class so I was hoping to assign the exercise only to myself. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I'm using Microsoft Edge on a Windows laptop.
You do need students in the class to do assignments even the save for later function.
You can put yourself in a class with no problem. I do that for every class I teach. I also do the exact same assignments I give my students each week. I find this process not only helps me teach the subject matter better it also helps me gauge how many assignments to give my students so I don't overdo it.

As Steve commented, you aren't able to assign content without students enrolled in your class.
However, you can add yourself as a student to be able to see how they view the assignments.
