Add audio track to exercises (screen reader)

This would be useful on all exercises for students with certain learning disorders, but most important for the exercises geared toward younger students. For many of the Early Math exercises, the reading skills necessary to understand the question often exceed the math skills necessary to answer it correctly. Having a button that could be pressed on the page to read the exercise to the student would be incredibly helpful. Having the word being read light up as it's being said would be a nice bonus.

Users could submit audio tracks, but the tracks would have to be approved by KA team members.

I'm also very interested in this feature for students of mine with reading disabilities. I want them to excel in math and they are so eager to use Khan but the reading is holding them back.

Speakit works well, as a plugin, but if you copy and paste a Khan problem, you realize that 7 turns into 777. Instead of reading "There are 7 squirrels," it reads, "There are 777 squirrels." Speakit solves it if you select only the words and not the numbers.

I completely agree. My four year old is ready to much of the math but is unable to do it by himself since he can't read all of the information accurately. It would be great if it could be read to him.

If getting audio tracks is too hard, how about a reading expert marks the "reading level" of each question and allows you to filter questions based on reading level as well. That should be easier than maintaining a bunch of audio tracks.

I agree. I teach students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. This feature would be very helpful to them. I also think it would be helpful to ELL students (English Language Learners).

If you use Microsoft's Edge browser, highlight the text, and then right click and choose "read aloud selection" or push Ctrl+Shift+U it works perfectly. This does not help me as I am trying to help kids using Chromebooks and the read aloud feature is missing in Edge on Android and Chrome.

Here is a screen shoot of what it looks like when it works.

I hope this helps some of you.

I will keep looking for a free app that makes it work with Chrome.

Same here. The my chromebook didn't allow for the suggested software extensions; nor does the setting for text-to-speech work with highlight text/nor the chrome vox enabled (unless I am missing something). My son is 4.5 and hasn't learned to read but can answer the math questions if I read the directions and question aloud to him. My 7 year old daughter (who can read) uses the read aloud feature in IXL every time (which now makes sense as I am now homeschooling and realizing she is an auditory learner).

Anyone with a chromebook have a workaround suggestion? My vote is an added feature within Khan :)
