An Update on Programming Contests
Over the years, our programming contests have been an amazing way for learners to flex their creativity, take on challenges, and connect through code. We’ve loved seeing everything from first-time projects to wildly ambitious programs, and it’s been incredible to watch so many of you grow your skills and confidence along the way.
As the community has grown and the world of tech continues to shift, we’ve taken some time to think about where contests fit into the bigger picture.
After a lot of reflection, we’ve decided to pause programming contests through at least Back-to-School 2026.
This break will give us time to really listen, evaluate what’s working and what isn’t, and explore new ways to support creativity, learning, and meaningful feedback. That includes making sure the experience works well for both participants and the volunteers who help make contests possible.
Our goal is to ensure that contests, if and when they return, are sustainable and genuinely valuable for everyone involved.
To everyone who has entered a contest over the years, whether you submitted one project or many, thank you. Your creativity and effort have made the contests something special. And to our volunteer judges and reviewers, we’re deeply grateful for the time and care you’ve shared with this community.
We know this pause may be disappointing, especially for those who have looked forward to contests each month. We really appreciate your patience and understanding, and we’ll share more information closer to the back-to-school season once we know what’s next.
Thanks for being part of this community, and for continuing to learn, build, and create with us.
