Too many post in a short amount of time

I've never had this problem, because I don't comment much, but it does seem like a poor design choice. If they're worried about spam, just limit the number of messages sent in a row or something. Although that wouldn't work for subpages I guess...

I got it twice, you cant even post t&t's and Questions section. Maybe they should lessen the hours at least, for the comment ban?

If the KA community helps flag all spam for the guardians, maybe we can remove that?

I have never had this problem because don't have a lot of activity on my programs but I can see if you are famous you will get that problem a lot. I really hope KA removes that feature!

I've had this happen multiple times. I'm trying to help people when all of a sudden, I can't comment or answer anything. The least you could do is raise the amount of comments and shorten the comment prevention period, KA is a place full of social connections where people work together. It seems like all you're trying to do is prevent that by making it so we can't talk freely to one another at will. either remove this feature, or do what I said above, and stop ignoring complaints.

6-9 comment chain in 15 seconds could be noticed as spam
not 1 singular comment in 30 seconds being spam
i get KA wants no spam and wants a safe and friendly place but some things liek that is annoying

Support Advocate Evan Lewis posted in that thread, asking people for information on what they were doing when they got that restriction, so they can figure out why people sometimes get it even though they have not made 100 posts in 24 hours.

I probably did make 100 posts within 24 hours. But this is because I usually reply to people within minutes. And currently, I have 3 programs on the hotlist that I'm replying to, I have The Hotlist Forge and Pros & Khans to manage and judge. So, yeah, I probably did make 100 comments. But I'm very active in the community, so I make a lot of comments, and with this feature that makes me have to wait a whole day (or it feels like it) to comment again, then what's the point of being part of the community?

Exactly! I was actually planning on coming back to help people, but how can I if I'm continually having to wait to comment? So hopefully they remove this. 

Yeah, I'm not sure why this rule is needed. The community is usually pretty good about flagging people who are actually spamming, and this rule ends up mostly effecting people who are active in the community, trying to help other coders, or just replying to comments on their programs.

I wonder if they (the team at KA) put said rule in place to stop Khan Academy from basically becoming a glorified social media site revolving around commenting and socializing (whether spam or not) and not learning? And for that reason have implemented a commenting limit? That's the obvious answer to me, but I could be wrong.

However that seems highly inconvenient for the users that genuinely just answer - or want to answer - a lot of questions across different topics.

Probably what would be best if they removed the feature, then later if they want to update the guidelines and have a flag option for "unnecessary spam" or something like that.

@Agent A yeah that is probably what their thought process was, and it was a good thought process, but for Ace and me and other people who sometimes need to comment that much, its not helpful.

Flagging does not stop the spam, it adds a pointer to the queue of posts that Khan Academy Guardians have to review.  The more posts per day they allow, the more posts a bot can make before a Guardian reviews one of the flagged posts and shuts down the account. 

In my experience, it can take the Guardians over 10 days to review a flagged post even if it is flagged within 2 hours being posted.  At 100 posts per day, that's 1000 posts.  If it were 20 posts per hour, then that would be 4800 posts.  Khan Academy may feel that reduction in spam outweighs any need or desire for a programmer to respond to every post someone makes on their programs.

Tbh this has happened to me a lot as well, when I'm trying to talk to multiple people at the same time and have convos with my friends I get comment-banned.

So I def agree with Ace to get rid of this comment ban feature. But if you won't get rid of the feature, at least make it where you don't get comment-banned so fast, and make the time of getting banned shorter because it is really annoying

That’s probably literally what they’re trying to avoid with this rule? Like Khan wasn’t designed for having convos with your friends, so they’re highly unlikely to change the rule on that reasoning, I’m guessing.

Yeah I can appreciate how that may be frustrating for people with high commenting rates but I wonder if maybe Khan’s the wrong platform for your use case in that scenario? I don’t know.

Eh, that's totally true ( I did prove KA's point a lil bit T-T), but what I'm mainly focusing on is the fact that when u have multiple incoming notifs, and u need to respond to them all u can't.

And since KA is also a community, I can see that it can frustrate multiple people in the KA community.

Never experienced this before, probably because I've only been on the community for a short amount of time, but I can appreciate how it must be annoying for people who help a lot.
