Is there a way to hide the grade level in Khan Academy?

I have the same concern, and don't think I'll be able to use Khan academy with them. It is not good for their self-esteem. Is there a work around, so I can work on skills without a 6th grader seeing that they are working on 2nd and 3rd grade skills?

Any hope of an answer to this?  It's a huge issue as self-esteem can be massively damaged by children knowing they are working below level.  Khan Academy is awesome and if this could be sorted, it would be even better.

I'm afraid it's not possible to hide the grade levels from the grade courses we provide. A workaround would be to assign to your students content not based on grade levels, but on the subject itself (for example, assigning content from Pre-algebra instead of, let's say, 7th-grade math).

That said, I understand how much of a game-changer this would be for teachers with special-needs students. We're grateful for having such engaged users like you that worry about the quality of our learning environment.

I, also am a Special Education High School teacher.

I appreciate the professionalism with your video lessons...However I cannot use them with high school students who are still working at an elementary school level...sigh...

I hopt there will be an option in the near future for these most needy students.

I came to this thread hoping to find an answer to this same problem.  It is very unfortunate that they thought of almost everything except for this.  In every class, you will have students working below their age/grade level.  

Many other programs allow teachers to hide grade level in the Teacher Dashboards. I would imagine that this could be a simple fix. It would definitely allow even wider use. 

Please make this a feature! IXL allows teachers to choose if grade levels are visible. While my students are not "enrolled" in courses, it is very clear to see on the side of the page which grade level of skill they are working on. It's hard to build a growth mindset when every page you work on says "2nd grade" while your report card and class schedule say "6th grade". If Khan Academy wants to emphasize growth mindset, they need to hide the grade levels. If you could enroll in "courses" by strand, that would be super helpful, too! So students could enroll in Multiplication and Division or in 3D Shapes or Coordinate Planes, and complete all the activities across grade levels that fall under that strand. They could catch up a lot faster with that progression mapped out for them, and save me time from having to do that myself.

I also am a special education teacher that would like this feature of hiding grade levels.  This should be at the top of your list to fix.

They are right. With increased gaps related to pandemic. All students need to access off grade content

I agree with all the above comments - Khan Academy, please resolve this issue, we otherwise love what you do!  I teach GED / HiSET math to adult learners, and have had students drop my course when they see that they are reviewing "2nd grade" math.  The simplest way to do this would be to change the word "grade" to the word "level".

I would really appreciate this change. I am considering dropping Kahn Academy despite its many benefits. My students are working hard and improving but the grade level being posted really hurts their self esteem. 

Is it possible to have a "hide level" option for teachers to control? It would also be helpful if we could lock the grade level since many of my student will choose their grade instead of their actual level. 

As a Khan Academy advocate, I am surprised that the team hasn't figured a solution to this problem in the years it has existed. It is certainly preventing adoption by large numbers of teachers. Please come up with a quick and dirty fix.
