Update: New mastery progress visualization on Course and Unit pages

Our last major update to our Course and Unit page redesign is out today!

You can now see a visual overview of your skill progress in each course and unit from their respective pages - try it out on your own account!

Each square represents an individual skill in that unit, and shows you the mastery level you currently have in it. Hovering over the square gives you a preview of the content in the skill, and clicking it will take you directly to its exercise.

The lightning bolts and stars represent the quizzes and unit test that each unit has, and clicking one will take you straight to it.

We hope that this new feature gives learners a clearer overview of their mastery progress, and makes it easier to see where they want to work next. Let us know what you think!

yea is there a way cuz it will be very helpful when u forgot to do a unit test 100

Hi Khan Academy! I love the new mastery and course view. But can you restore modal view in the unit page if possible? It's helpful for quickly sampling content (esp videos), and clicking on a title can take users to the new mastery view.

That said, the current view remains super-navigable, so thank you for introducing it!

Hi! Ahead of the 2026 redesign, I wanted to suggest adding back content progress indicators onto the Course home page too.

Currently, the Unit Page displays videos and articles as started/completed/unopened. The Course page used to have that but right now it displays everything as if it's fresh content to start.

Having a handy content progress view on the course home also would be helpful, and complements the really helpful mastery boxes on top. (By the way, it's really handy to have hyperlinks to each skill exercise on each box - one of my favourite features from Missions brought back to Course Mastery!)
