so, Khan academy apparently has an app for download onto amazon kindles, but it's not for Amazon's firestick tv?  how can that be?  I'm guessing it's an amazon issue, but I bought a firestick tv thinking it could access any app that a kindle could utilize.

I agree with Brandon Short. Being able to watch Khan academy videos on the "main" screen would greatly benefit my learning, along with utilizing their resources more frequently, and I'd even be willing to contribute more than I have in the past with this capability.

As practically everyone knows, online learning continues to become more wide spread, and being able to either read an e-textbook or watch a tutoring video on a larger screen while in a relaxed position, such as in a recliner makes for a better learning experience, at least for me.

Personally, I think it's idiotic to try to watch videos on a small screen such as a tablet or smartphone, but it just seems like a no brainer to be able to do so on a large screen television.

While I agree that it would be awesome to have a stand alone FireTv app, “screen mirroring” would solve the little cell phone screen problem.

Screen mirroring would work, but then you would have to download or pay for another app to have it mirrored. You would also being using two devices (the phone and firestick) to watch videos, when it could easily be consolidated to firestick only. Mirroring would drain the phone battery and could also be interrupted with a phone call. It just doesn't seem as practical as an app in the long run.

I found a way to watch the Khan videos through the Amazon Firestick TV. It's not perfect and a bit fiddly to use, but it works.

• Install the Firefox browser on the Firestick
• In the new Firefox browser, go to Khan Academy website.
• Log in to Khan. It helps to use the Firestick IOS / Android app to type user ID and password
• Then navigate using Firestick remote to where you want to be, play videos.
• The website is not optimized for the browser and seems like it is cutting off sides / top and bottom, but the main videos still are centered in my TV and take up nearly the entire TV screen.
• The hard part about navigating is using the Firestick remote to move the cursor around the screen to click things. Doable but fiddly.

This kind of will work until a native app is available.

I was just curious, it seems it's been 11 months since the subject was broached, anything new with Kahn Academy being available on Firestick?

Strange that I cannot sign in using the Amazon Silk web browser.  Even when going to my Google account from there, I cannot sign in.  I agree with above comments--there needs to be a way.

Was able to sign in after changing to Foxfire browser.

If the official application is not a work in progress, then I would be more than happy to go ahead and build the application.

EDIT: Also, I'll open source the application, so that it becomes a community effort.

I was able to view Kahn over Kodi/firestick but system failed the second try. I uninstalled and reinstalled but same.

I just wanted to echo the sentiment here.  I really like the classes on Khan Academy but I can only get to them when I have spare time.  The chances of having that spare time are greatly increased when I'm sitting in front of my Fire TV.  I would use Khan Academy much more if there was a Fire TV app.

Is there any update on this thread from khan academy? Agree with others on this thread, would be really great to be able to watch on Fire tv.

This seems like one of those features that we the users need to help develop. I don't know how to program for firesticks yet, but it looks like I've got myself a challenge. Because I absolutely want this as well.

What I need is a URL for the .apk file on the play store. If I can get the URL then I can use a downloader app to download the .apk file directly into the fire tv stick. Once there it should be simple to sideload it. So.....

Does anyone know how to find the URL?
