I've been stuck on this challenge for longer than I'd like to admit, but no matter what I try, nothing works. The only tip it gives me is "On each iteration, subtract the number of orders the cooks fill from waiting_for_food." I've tried to do that, but no matter what I try, it keeps giving me the same message and I feel like I'm going insane.
You're correctly adding new orders to the waiting_for_food list, but you're never subtracting the orders that the cooks finish.
The cooks can't fill more orders than are actually waiting.
If you have two cooks (num_cooks = 2) but only one order is waiting_for_food, they can only fill that one order, not 2. This is likely why you're getting errors or negative numbers.
To fix this, you need to subtract the minimum of either num_cooks or waiting_for_food.
