Data processor agreement

Dear sirs!

I am an edtech advisor in a Norwegian municipality called Larvik. These days we are enrolling iPads to all students aged between 6 and 16. For some time, we have niticed Khan Academy. I also attended a seminar in Trondheim two years ago where Khan was presented.

We would like to use Khan, but to use a service like this we need a data processor agreement. I've already tried to gather information in some Facebook groups and through Google searches, but I can't find any info.

1) This is posted in a community and there might not be anyone from Khan here? Is there a way to get in direct contact with the company? My mail is attached below, feel free to send me a mail if anyone reads.

2) Is there anyone reading this thread who can share information about data processor agreements. I am sure I am not the only one asking for this? I know for instance that one other big edtech company, Showbie, arranges this for customers.

If we can arrange something here, I am sure other schools and municipalities in Norway will find this very interesting. Norway is really small when it gets to this.

Hi Jørn - the short answer is, because all of Khan Academy is open to all users without cost or requirements to register or contract for services, the organization doesn't really engage in formal agreements with users who decide to use KA materials in their schools. Additionally, as a nonprofit with a global reach, doing so would be cost-prohibitive.

Because of that we’ve worked hard to both not collect personally identifiable information we don’t need, and to be transparent and provide clear detail about our strong support of student privacy. We encourage you to check out our Privacy Policy (https://www.khanacademy.org/about/privacy-policy), where you can read more about how we protect information. Additionally, Khan Academy is a signatory of the Student Privacy Pledge (http://studentprivacypledge.org/?page_id=45) that was recently named by President Obama as an important step in safeguarding student privacy.

That said, if there are specific questions you have after reading over our policies, you can submit them here, and someone will try to get them answered for you.
