Please add more real world maths problems

Whilst I love KA and understand that they are bound by syllabus I think they could have more real world maths. I sometimes find the Algebra 1 course extremely boring as it’s so abstract which is great for those that like that sort of thing. However as a lot of maths is to do with the real world especially at the level of Algebra 1 it would be nice if there were sections where we were shown how algebra is applied in the real world and I don’t mean generalities such as “maths got men to the moon”. 

What I’d like to see is relevant applications not word problems that have little bearing in reality such as “Sean has 12 apples, Mary had four more than Sean and they have to pick at least 50 apples. Write an inequality describing this.” This has no relevance for most people unless you have an orchard or really like apples!

I found a real world example in my own life. 

I can do an express driving course for £999.00 which includes the driving test or I can get driving lessons which the Government agency says it will take an average of 45 lessons at (say) £24.00 per hour. So the question would be how many lessons would I need to take before it becomes more expensive than the express course?

Let L be the number of lessons needed and the driving test fee would be £90.00, can’t remember the exact fee. Ditto with Theory Test fee which I’ll say is £50.00

So the inequality would be:

24L+ 90 + 50  > 999

So 36 lessons would be more expensive than the express driving course. As the average according to the government agency isl 45 lessons then it might be cheaper to take the express driving course and certainly faster as there is a fast track for the driving test. I hope I’ve got that right!

For me this personal example is far more relevant than most of the word problems in Khan Academy. Could KA provide word problems that are more relevant rather than the vague general problems they use which don’t inspire.
