hide energy points notification

Hi Rebecca,

I'm assuming you're referring to the energy point banner that is shown on the videos? If so, the banner will disappear if you take your mouse outside of the video. If your mouse is hovering on the video or moving around over the video, the energy point banner is shown.

my answer comes late but perhaps it'll be of use to someone.

You can hide the energy notification like this:

1. install the adblocker extension uBlock Origin and activate it
2. go to wherever you can manage your browser's extensions
   (for Firefox you can type "about:addons" in the address bar and press enter)
3. access the settings page of uBlock Origin
   (for Firefox you must click on three dots and then on "preferences")
4. click on "my filters" and create a new line containing:
   khanacademy.org##:xpath(.//div[contains(@aria-hidden,"false")])
5. click on "apply changes" (button in the top left corner)

That should do the trick! The rule will hide all div containers on khanacademy.org which have the aria-hidden attribute set on "false". Disclaimer: I haven't seen "aria-hidden=false" used for anything but energy notifications on khanacademy.org but it's not like I've thoroughly scanned the site for it.

does it need to be that app in particular? i've been using Adblock Plus for a while and tried to use that one, followed your instructions, refreshed both webpages multiple times, but it didn't work. :(

i just tried it with AdBlock (another adblocker i use) and it still didn't work. huh.

for AdBlock Plus you can try this:

khanacademy.org#$#hide-if-matches-xpath './/div[contains(@aria-hidden,"false")]'

I would suggest to consider switching to uBlock Origin for two reasons:

1. uBlock Origin is less CPU/RAM intensive
2. uBlock Origin shows no ads while AdBlock Plus allows certain sponsored ads:
   https://adblockplus.org/acceptable-ads#revenue
