Can I plz know why forces in a vacuum are said to be higher than those in a medium? (In this case it is the force between 2 charges).
Can I plz know why forces in a vacuum are said to be higher than those in a medium? (In this case it is the force between 2 charges).
I would assume because there is no medium, the medium does not slow it down. I really don't know.
Coulomb's force is affected by medium, and we have to take the factor of relative permitivity into account to get the right answer and usually in mathematical form, we divide the force in vacum by that realtive permitivity value therefore it decreases.
