Chemistry Question
I know it may sound like a dumb question, but is there a way to break down cellulose into multiple glucose monomers by introducing it with cellulase extraction under the right conditions?
Please understand my lack of knowledge.

Cellulose is broken down by the enzyme cellulase, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'cellulase extraction'. Could you clarify that?
Anyhow, cellulase is the enzyme that breaks down cellulose, and it does break it into multiple glucose monomers, like you said. It does so through the hydrolysis of cellulose, and I believe that it uses enzymes secreted from proteins to break the cellulose into monomers. For more information, you could check this site out. http://large.stanford.edu/courses/2010/ph240/jin2/
Again, if you can, please clarify the 'cellulase extraction' part.
Thanks for the answer! I say cellulase extraction because I wanted to know if it could be done in a simple lab and the link you have provided did more than just that. Thanks again.
