This is a timely and innovative solution to improve reading and writing, and yet so very simple. We can exchange complicated traditional English writing with one letter for each sound. What could be simpler? Qikit is the first comprehensive update in English writing since the Middle Ages and a real boon for kindergarten and ESL.

As new learners are introduced to English they struggle to remember the words and their meanings. The next step is to write those words, and they meet an unnecessary hurdle. It's a confusing writing system which demands they will need to memorize the spelling of all words instead of being able to just sound them out. With Qikit's simple, True Fonix,, once they learn the letters they can sound out all words and spelling is no longer a problem. Qikit offers a free app that provides spelling suggestions, translations, and an opportunity to practice with friends.

What can you do? How can you help? The kids need you to discuss it with your friends with the idea of learning more about Qikit, and how you might promote it, and improve it. The kids can't do anything until it is presented to them, they are dependent on you.

There are 100's of proposals for a more phonemic representation of spoken English.

Most are discussed on Saundspel.

SB: One that is similar to much of Qikit is NuEnglish
NuE does not introduce as many new characters other
than the macron to mark long vowels.

NuE: sā sē sī sō sūn vyū for say see sign so soon view
These are the long vowels. u for yū is problematic.

əˈbaʊt *b*t NuE: u-bout

BG: Consistent sounds for six old letters and 14 new letters

ā is the long a sound as in make

y is the ee sound as in easy and
the y sound as in yellow and yes SB: y is a positional character.-

î is the long i sound as in find or I
u is the yoo sound as in you NE: yu

o is the aw sound as in hot
ᴥ is the neutral vowel, for the a in idea, SB: not visible. Try ə
Ŧ is the th sound as in the or thing NE uses tt
SB: unsupported spl. characters are problematic.
§ is the sh sound as in she NE uses sh for /S/.
c is the ch sound as in church NE uses ch for /tS/.
Ѱ is the hw sound as in what SB: Why not use hw for /hw/

ŭ is the ou (ow) sound as in about IPA: /au/ also Webster
¤ is the oi (oy) sound as in point SB: Why not keep oii for /oi/

ō is the long o sound as in oh
ø is the double o sound as in soon IPA /u:/

r is the r sound as in her and run
R is the ar sound as in car NE: or for är *car - kor
Я is the or sound as in or NE ór for /ör/
ᴚ is the air sound as in care

ñ is the ng sound as in thing NE: kor fōr tting
ž is the zh sound as in measure

First learn the 4 “r” sounds,
r = r, R = ar, я = or, ᴚ = air.
And the 3 “o” sounds,
o = au, ō = oh, ø = oo.

BG: A special letter ᴥ for ə, has been added to simplify spelling where uncertain or unstressed vowels develop ambiguity. The Qikit app will accept ᴥ to replace any vowel, or, any vowel can be used to replace the letter ᴥ used in a Qikit word and it will still translate correctly.

I recognize that many attempts have been made to improve a week written language for obvious reasons. It is a very big job to change an ingrained major communication system, but it will be done because the need persists.
