When I use a basic calculator with long division (which I don't do anymore. Its probably easier to do on paper than on a calc), you have to use multiplication to find the number:
We want to know what 1252/62 is. So keep multiplying 62 until the number is the highest it can be, but less than the *divident.
1. 60 x 20 = 1240
2. 1252 - 1240 = 12 (the remainder)
So 60 goes into 1240, 20 times with 12 remaining.
*dividend ÷ divisor = quotient
