I'm afraid there's not a way to manually change or add progress to a student's account. However, students are always able to access all parts of the courses, so they are free to start in any of the course units (i.e. they don't have to complete the prior units before accessing the next one).

As far as mastery percentage goes, the fastest way to earn credit for concepts that a student already knows is to take the Course Challenge. This will allow them to quickly master skills from across the course, so they can earn mastery progress for skills that they have already mastered and also receive recommendations for skills that they are struggling with. Note that this will also give them skills from the later parts of the course (that they might not have learned yet), so they will have to skip over these questions by entering an answer and then selecting "Skip to next question" or "Move on" in the popup that appears.

Alternatively, they can take the Unit Test in each of the units to receive mastery progress for just the skills in those units, which may be more efficient if there's a lot of content that they are not familiar with.
