In this first step, use a JOIN to display a table showing people's names with their hobbies.

So i did...

What went wrong?

CREATE table friends (
id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT,
person1_id INTEGER,
person2_id INTEGER);

INSERT INTO friends (person1_id, person2_id)
VALUES (1, 4);
INSERT INTO friends (person1_id, person2_id)
VALUES (2, 3);

SELECT persons.fullname, hobbies.name FROM persons
JOIN hobbies
ON persons.id;

STEP 1:

select persons.fullname,hobbies.name from persons
join hobbies
on hobbies.person_id = persons.id;

what STEP 1 does is

1. Selects the 'PERSONS' table and find the 'Fullname' column and then it Selects the 'hobbies' table and find the 'name' column
2. It will then show no Table because there will be an error due to an Unknown table AKA 'hobbies' so you must join it by doing 'JOIN HOBBIES'
3. then you want to make the Hobbies id same with the persons id so you have to type 'on hobbies.person_id = persons.id;'
4. then you have Ordered the table and finished STEP 1

STEP 2:

select a.fullname,b.fullname from friends
JOIN persons a
ON friends.person1_id = a.id
JOIN persons b
ON friends.person2_id = b.id;

what STEP 2 does is

1. Selects a table(persons) then find the column 'fullname' and then Selects the same table(persons) then find the column 'fullname' from the table friends
2. But there is no table 'persons' in the table 'friends' so it will automatically check if it is joined with another table
3. if it isn't joined with another table then it will Of course ERROR so thats why we have 'JOIN persons a(alias/AKA/ a shortened way to rename tables)
4. then it will search for the 'friends' table and find the column 'person1_id' and it will try to find whatever matches the '=' sign from a.id(persons.id)
5. and the next join does the same except it does it with 'person2_id'

I had a VERY HARD TIME understanding all of this and I think html is easier,But hey if everythings easy then everyone can do it. Anyways I hope this helped you alot because this was hard trying to understand what the concepts and the selects I always get an Error from the Oh Noes guy and he annoys me ALOT and I mean ALOT thanks for reading until the end :D

This code works well for the first step.

select a.fullname, b.fullname from friends
join persons a
on friends.person1_id=a.id
join persons b
on friends.person2_id=b.id;

and above works perfect for next step.
