Mixed number issues

To write mixed numbers on exercises and quizzes, first type the whole number, then add a space, and then add the remaining fraction using a forward slash:

The “space” is where I am having trouble. For some reason I am unable to write a space. I don’t see a button available to let me write a space in between the whole number and the fraction.

On another tutorial there was another keypad available by swiping to the left. I’m assuming the space button is available on the second keypad. Also, there is no forward slash available. I am only able to make a fraction by using the divide button. I am also assuming the forward slash is available on the second keypad.

I am using Kahn academy on my iPhone, so I don’t know if that my be affecting the availability of the second keypad option on the problem I am trying to answer. I am wondering if it is a bug or glitch that I am dealing with.

Ah, I see. On the iPhone app, there should be a tiny triangle on the top right corner of the fraction bar symbol -- if you tap and hold this button, you should be able to select the mixed number option and enter the numbers by tapping on the boxes.

Wow, I would have never noticed that little triangle in the corner of the divide button. The funny thing is I have to take the rubber case off my phone and I can still barely get the mixed number button to appear. I will need to practice with this feature for a while. Thank you a ton for helping me out with that. There is no way I would have figured that out.

Unfortunately the mixed number button is refusing to stay in place once it is activated. It pops up briefly and then disappears. This seems be the only “not user friendly” feature I have come across so far with this app on my phone. Oh well, I guess I can just work around the mixed number section and tell my self I got the necessary points.

Ok, never mind. It took me a while, but I was able to get it to work. It is actually a little bit tricky and does take some practice. My goodness they made that very touchy. Thank you again for showing me how to do that.

For Android(not test on iOS): First write the fraction part using the fraction button, then insert the cursor before it, now write the whole number part.
