Ideal math text with Khan?

Good question!

At this time my experience has been that with KA being a supplementary tool in the classroom that is constantly updating, I have not found a book that follows it perfectly. Our district has a plethora of books available to us including a CPM series. We at our district have continuously used and order the Holt McDougal sets that say they are written using the Common Core standards and I still find them lacking  in many areas. Depending on the grade you are working with I have found that as an Algebra 1 teacher I often assign material from 8th grade, pre -algebra and algebra 1 to my students to differentiate for them.

OHQ Textbooks that align with Common Core and/or Khan Academy. Hi jaeger. I haven't found any perfectly aligned textbooks...yet. Khan Academy isn't perfectly aligned either, but it has gotten much, much better in the last 3 years. I think this is because of the Khan Academy Common Core Map. To find it, use the search window at the top of the Khan Academy Window and search for "Common Core Map". They have one for all math standards, but not so much for the other curricula. Then open the level that you want to look at. On the left hand navigation window you should see the various domains, like Geometry, Ratios & Proportional Reasoning, Number Systems, etc. Click on a domain and you will see a page with the grade-level standards for that domain with a list of "skills", the number of skills for that standard, and the number of questions within that standard. When Khan Academy first created this Map, there were notable gaps in the Common Core content. They've done a great job filling in. One way you can use this? With your grade level teachers, plan your units and look at the map to see what aligns with your unit. Then use it for in class practice or online homework assignments. Another way to use this? Use Khan Academy as the outline for your teaching that way you can use the online quizzes and unit tests. Then plan offline tasks/experiments/activities that complement the online practice. 

I just spoke with an ambassador who told me that CPM materials are on the list for curriculum alignment. If anyone who manages that list is reading this, I have a whole district full of enthusiastic math educators who would love it if CPM materials were next on the list for alignment!
