Account, accounting, accountancy!

Hey people please support me, whether it's for your children or grandchildren this type of knowledge contributes to the true survival in  capitalism! I love you guys!

Hi 321aholiab, I am 65 years old, recently retired from a career in computers, where I mostly used a language called COBOL. I graduated from high school in 1970 and went right to computer programming school two weeks later - didn’t even get the summer off!

In 1974, I decided that I’d like to try going to college at night. I wanted to major in math because it was my best subject in high school, but the community college in my county did not offer a math major. This was actually an opportunity to try all kinds of other subjects that I hadn’t had a chance to take earlier. I decided to try the beginning Accounting course because a lot of my computer work had to do with Accounting. I enjoyed the course and got an A, so I took more courses. I transferred to a 4-year state college in the area, and I eventually got my B.S. in Accounting with a minor in Business in 1982. (I still got to take some advanced math courses, though, especially after I transferred to the 4-year school. In fact, I even took a few more math courses at that school and another one closer to a later residence after I graduated. Now I am back relearning the math here at Khan Academy because I have forgotten so much of what I once enjoyed!)

Although I never actually worked in Accounting, my knowledge of this subject area has helped me a lot in both my professional and personal life. (For example, I do my own taxes and in fact spent several hours on this earlier today.) I don’t know if Khan Academy will take up your Accounting suggestion because they get so many requests for various topics, but I admire your persistence.

Nice to meet you Miss Regina! Thankyou for sharing your experience with me! It's amazing knowing that it is possible to master (although not completely) 3 big subjects in the span of 12 years and to use it for the rest of your carree and life! I feel greatly boosted to continue from where I am now~ there are a lot of people who just get depressed when reality hits them. 

Thankyou for tolerating me to add some spice of negativity because the reality is just too hard to accept~especially when it is accrued.

I finish high school at 2012 with great results and high scores in maths! I was deeply obsessed with math during that high school life, it gave me a lot of abilities to measure a lot of things. But as I ended high school if you recall there was this star wars with Darth sidious screaming unlimited power. I was wondering if a person could fully master(recently I managed to accept the fact) Mathematics and apply it, would he be godlike? Unlimited power? When I learned deeper, I found deeper theories that can only gives approximations! Devastated, I begin to accept living a normal life using stories and dota2 to numb myself. My studies continued as a teacher, there is a specific educational course funded by the government but I had to repay because I failed, both in the courses and morally. 1 is because my country add a lot of subjects that weren't necessary like Islamic, racial, and Accounting! Had I took accounting during high school I wouldnt have failed so badly, yet after counselings things just went for worse because I was in depression. I isolated myself into daydreams of being godlike. Further reinforcement by dota2 there is just no coming back! I was shooed away from home... Didn't know what was investment and was spending all my money earned because I didn't have a correct view of inflation.

I worked 3 different jobs, all in the lowest form. A tuition teacher for 6~12 year olds, retailer customer services, and being a cybercafe cashier.

Nothing could wake me up until I studied about shares and Accounting! Only then I realized what was a sunk cost for me(wanting to be a professional player of dota2 ). 

I am also interested in psychology...If you notice new trends in youtube there is this huge debate on feminism by Peterson~who hit me with the fact that I am not going to live like this forever. Male and female have a maturity age of 30. If a male don't have a successful career by 30years old, the reality will hit him. If a fenale doesn't have a marriage by 30years old, it will be harder to find one after that age. It isn't that it is ok to be clueless as you are about life at 30 like when you are younger~we will look like an old baby! It would be so hard to find a spouse by then!

I am grateful to be given a second chance to come home and be supported by my parents to return the debt and start accounting like you this year. I am assured that young men need accounting to gain access to the reality about retirement and marriage, without accounting they will never learn the reciprocation of what they do should be equal to the gain.

Expense that does Not contribute to earnings are an revenue expenditure. This can't be justified if we are young dumb broke, and don't have revenue!

When I finally do what I should be doing, life seem much brighter. I contribute to society, society contribute back to the capital investors.

I really hope young people like me can have a greater chance to get expose on these knowledge early on so that they won't follow my footstep or can be able to return from depression.

Really, accounting is just as beautiful as math. The ethics, the way to be a financial advisor, the management and auditing, it all teaches us how to live properly without stumbling into both spiritual and financial crisis.

I really wish Khan Academy can fulfill this request... And thank you Regina for listening to my rantings. I feel appreciated!

I am 23years old btw, 5years spent to learn such valuable life lessons. Haha

While I don't anticipate accounting content being added in the near future, I have shared this request with our team so they can take your ideas into consideration once we have the capacity to expand into additional subject areas!

With all the other career exams being added nursing, law, medicine, I was surprised that there was nothing for accounting!

I was glad that someone already asked about this, so I add my vote.

Another idea, I noticed there is a personal Finance course for highschool plus, why is there no personal finance course for children K-12?

It's never to early to learn and implement good financial skills.

So Evan Lewis at least a course for the children? Yes!
