Update: 32 new avatars available! 😍

How does it feel making a decision that absolutely no-one agrees with and refusing to back down? Classic corporate move.

Laurie @KA The removal of backgrounds and addition of new avatars that don't fit with the theme is probably the reason why Khan Academy is dying out.

Sounds great! Doing little things like adding backgrounds for users to choose from or letting people choose their own “site theme” etc. makes using websites so much more fun.

Khan Academy should be a place that makes learning fun, and interactive learning is more fun than static learning. Any way the KA development team can add a little zest and rind to make things interesting, they should.

huh... so there's at least a chance? nice

Hello everybody,

I am working on an extension to add back backgrounds.  This extension will be available as soon after the following thread gets resolved:

I am late as I stopped using KA for about 4-5 years, but really I very well remember Background looked cool and nice. It was a nice way to flex your energy points. Now reading thru all the old comments makes me wonder has KA stopped listening to old members and are focusing more on the new members (ie. KA kids). I don't think it's fair as the old members were the ones who made it popular and supported the community when other hesitated. If Backgrounds are not coming back then at least show a way that the member is old and not a 2 weeks account. I know that there are badges that used to do that (And I have all of those and 1 retired sun badge oracle but now its retired).

I don't want this comment to be too long but all I am saying is that there should be a way to show the member is old. Like maybe having a cool diamond or golden badge next to the pfp.

But I would be happy to get Bg's back...

(Even tho this comment won't be read in the next few years it's a nice way to store info that people loved the Bg's)

KA used to have backgrounds. And I joined a month too late to see them. I feel... Hurt. Why? I not offensive, but please add them BACK and the new avatars well.... S-U-C-K a bit

Even though I joined ~2-3 years after the removal of the backgrounds I think they should be brought back. I have seen many good things about them. While I understand you are busy and have a million other things to do/add I would love if you would consider this. I think you should consider restoring backgrounds because I feel like they would enhance student engagement and connection to the platform. I think customization features whether big or small would benefit learners so they feel ownership over their learning environment. It would strengthen motivation and encourage long term usage. Additionally i think that backgrounds also contributed towards students being able to be proud of their achievements. If this feature would be brought back it would make our profiles feel a more welcoming, personal, and inspiring place for users.

is anyone else just utterly sick off this??? what is the point of a feature request section? you just ignore everyone like NOBADY likes this... so why isn't it gone? like, nothing anybody says really maters, question for the khan acdemy team, Laurie @KA does anybodys opinion really matter?
