Think this way......
Make k equal to 7 in this situation. If you are to replace k/2 with 7 the number would be 7/2. Now look, 7 times 1/2 is 7/2 and 7 divided by 2 is 7/2.

Yeh k is the variable, 1/2 k is the correct answer so 1 is the missing number of where k is.
The other correct answer k divided by 2, it's asking you What's divided by 2 that gets you to the answer of 1?. Well... 2 x 1 = 2 so... 2 divided by 2 = 1.
It's the same because it gets you to the same answer of 1.
