General gripe about expected math answers
It is REALLY irritating when the test-question asks for an EXACT answer, but FAILS to specify HOW they want the answer formatted! I get the right answer mathematically, but it is UNACCEPTABLE to the course because I failed to format it the way the course expected the answer. I only find out WHAT IT EXPECTED when I enter my result, fail, then click on the help. THEN AND ONLY THEN do I realize the course expected a fraction rather than a decimal.
Example: I'm asked to convert 310 degrees to radians. I entered 5.41 radians, WHICH IS THE CORRECT ANSWER!. I was penalized because I failed to express the answer as 31/18 pi. I was NOT told to express the answer as a FRACTION!!!!!
Throughout these courses, I've continuously encountered unlabeled answer boxes. Does it want Units, radians, degrees, fractions, decimals, or what?
Mathematics is hard enough without having to guess at the answer's format requirements!
