basically when you start a subject you could be able to have the option to take a placement test to see where you are along the skill line. that being said, you wont have to practice/master skills you already learned ages ago and you could instantly get started on what you mainly need help with.
kinda like the fitness tests, but longer and it would change to cater to you as you go.

I second this, was thinking the same thing. I am just now getting back into building my math skills and have little to no idea what I need to work on. I decided to start in 3rd grade but this is a great deal of redundancy. Having a placement test that could point me in the problem areas would most helpful.
Placement tests could even include the option "I have no idea what your talking about." for each question.
