A fast way of solving Polynomials

Do you mean multiplying polynomials? If so here's a way (FOIL but more visual) that I remember from Algebra 1:

The image I put up is a way that I always multiplied out polynomials, and it serves me best in the shortest amount of time.

Here, let me add the image again to explain it.

The problem is: Evaluate/Expand (2x + 3)(x - 7):

• Make a 2x2 square, like the one below (or a 3x3 with the given statement)

                     2x     +   3
                  ________ _______
           x     |        |       | 
                 |        |       |
                 |-----------------
          -7     |        |       |
                 |        |       |
                 ------------------

• Multiply it out! In the top left of the 2v2 (middle for 3v3), it's the first term that should always be first and at the highest order!

                    2x     +   3
                  ________ _______
           x     |        |       | 
                 |  2x^2  |       |
          -7     |-----------------
                 |        |       |
                 |        |       |
                 ------------------

• Multiply out the rest, and what's cool about this square method is that the square sections diagonally adjacent are to the same order, and must be combined/crossed out (blue in pic far below)

                    2x     +   3
                  ________ _______
           x     |        |       | 
                 |  2x^2  |   3x  |
          -7     |-----------------
                 |        |       |
                 |  -14x  |  -21  |
                 ------------------


              Then:   (2x^2) + 3x -14x -21
Combine Like Terms:   (2x^2) -11x -21

Hope that cleared it up, and this works really well for me (better than normal FOIL and just as fast in my opinion).
