Am I banned?

If you were able to make this post, then no, your account is not banned. We also generally send messages notifying active users of their ban, so you would have received a pop-up alert upon logging into the site.

As far as the hidden comments go, it's possible that some of them are being caught in our filter, but this shouldn't be an issue if your comments are of a normal length and are well formatted. Very short comments, posts will all caps, off-site links, etc. are automatically hidden until we manually approve them.

Exactly what is normal length for comments? Also I don't think the filtering system is working properly. About half the comments I make don't get replied to.

Full-sentence posts should be fine, and sometimes shorter posts will be allowed too. It's mainly just the one-word comments and comments with unusual or excessive formatting/punctuation that tend to get auto-flagged.

Phantom Falcon the comment that wasn't there after you got the notification may have been deleted by the original poster or someone else with authority to do so before you had a chance to look for it. I have had this happen to me, and that's what I figured out had happened.
