Restarting Course Challenge/Unit Test

Unfortunately no, there's not a way to restart the unit tests our course challenges. This is intentional in order to promote a growth mindset and additional practice for students who may be struggling, but we recognize that this may not be ideal for all users.

I’m happy to let you know that we’ve added your reset button feedback to our roadmap of potential improvements for Khan Academy, and the possibility of adding one is something that’s being discussed further. 

This is a feature we’re actively gathering feedback for, so your comments are very helpful. Please note that any changes around this feature will take time to build and we currently do not have a timeframe for when anything might be implemented. 

In the meantime, we hope that your students are building grit by pushing through any setbacks even when they might be frustrating.

hello, i kind of messed up on the course challenge, and it does not have the "start over' button and i really want to start over :(

Can confirm, not on course challenge.  Very annoying writing the first question on the course challenge down on paper correctly then entering it wrong!  Math r hard.

Yeah what I would do is just put random answers until u finish the test and then click try again .

But then you would level down in the practices....

please ad reset to course challenge too! i did part of the geometry course challenge moths ago, since then I have finished everything in the geometry unit on khan and just have to do the unit test but because I started it so long ago I made lots of mistakes that will take all my progress away!! :(

Can you please add the function to restart the course challenge, just like mcneljun000 I also have all my exercises mastered but I also started the Course Challenge thinking it would have a restart button. Unfortunately it doesn’t, so once I finish my course, then I have to take the Course challenge. But, since I have gotten a lot wrong before I can’t restart and all my mastered will become attempted. Please add the new feature.

I agree this feature is sorely needed. I'm practicing for the dSAT and the course challenges are a good simulation of the test, but if I accidentally mess something up early on, I want to be able to restart.

I really need the restart button on the course challenges because I'm trying to get perfect scores and its very annoying to get one question wrong in the beginning and have to skip through to the end to try again. Please add a start over button on course challenges!!!!

As a Tutor, I also wish to have a button to restart a challenge for all stundents in a course.

In my humble oppinion there should be no "Start Over" Button for students that allows a restart without a skill level down. this would not be a appropriate feedback to the skill level. 

What I did was put the skip button, and then restart. I then retook the test.

But this takes a lot of time...

So I would just continue the test, as that would give some practice. 

Yet, this causes demotivation, which will make you unfocused. 

The only option is to really do the strategy or not. 

This means the mind actually will get very messed up, unless your calm. And if you at least want a very good score, or just want some well-earned practice, It's... annoying. This will not encourage students to come back, and as a student myself, I would really want a restart button. I agree for whoever wants it. Without it, it messes me up, driving me insane...

But at the end, there is a try again button, but only relieves some stress... 

Can you add a reset button to the SAT course challenge as well? I started it ages ago just to have a look, and now that I've achieved mastery in most of the course, I don't want to ruin my progress records by completing it.

Its been another 4 months and there STILL isnt course challenge restart buttons. I attempted it at the beginning of the unit and now I finished and need to take it, but half of the answers are wrong so all my scores will be demoted!

Must be a tough life working at khan academy if they can't even get something like this done in less than 4 years. Is copy pasting a bit of code really that hard?

Omg, I just made the stupidest mistake, and tried failing a few other questions thinking I can restart, BUT I CANT. Will I be able to do the course challenge again or what? Wtf is this? I came here to practice on my own terms, not be controlled in how I practice.

It's been 5 YEARS since this was addressed, and it took 2 YEARS for it to get recognized enough to get added, and after 3 YEARS its STILL not in course challenges, WHY KHAN, WHY

I like being at 100% mastery, and I like getting the extra points via course challenges despite it not doing much, tho WHY must I get every single question right or it demotes my mastery, we need to have a mastery independant test so you can test how good you are without ruining your mastery, OR just add the start over button to course challenges, How has this TAKEN 3 YEARS, and it's STILL not HERE.

Khan Academy please add restart button

I tutor on Schoolhouse and like doing the course challenges instead of the unit tests. It's so annoying when I mess something up on the course challenges and have to skip my way through. It takes forever. PLEASE ADD A RESTART BUTTON

I don't understand why so many users think it would be a good idea to make it easier for people to obsess over getting 100%.  Obsessing over perfection is over-rated and probably unhealthy.

What do experts in the psychology of education say about this?
