Grading JS Projects After Automatic Spin-off Cancellation

There has been a recent change in the functioning of JS projects. Originally, any work on a project within a JS course (intro to JS) was automatically saved as a spin-off. Now, this has been cancelled.

I am a middle school teacher that uses the KA platform to introduce middle schoolers to coding. I grade each of their projects myself. I can only get automatic access to their work if it's saved as a spin-off. They are all listed as students in my class. When it was automatic, I could grade all their projects easily. Now there is an extra step for the students to save their project as a spin-off. Is there any work around to this?

Hi Omar,

I'm afraid there's not any workarounds for this, but I will go ahead and share this feedback with the team so they can consider some possible solutions to this issue.

For now, all students will need to click the spin-off button after completing their project in order to save the project to their profile. This will then allow you to access their work as a teacher.

Thanks for the response!

I understand the reasoning behind the decision. As a teacher, I just wish I can grade my students' projects directly. The projects page seen through the teacher view is messy. It includes all the spinoffs any student made. The only filter available is for spinoffs of official projects. I am not able to filter by project or by student.

I really enjoy using the platform with my students. They love it and the content is wonderful!
