Hello,

I'm pursuing Data Science and I would like to have a strong mathematical base.

Before starting Statistics and Probability, what are the course prerequisites I should complete? Same question for Linear Algebra.

ex: Algebra I & II, Trig, and High School Statistics?

Hello marleyakonnor!

So, before you take statistics, it's a good idea to recover up on the foundational knowledge you'll need in the course. Like for the algebra course is often a prerequisite for statistics classes so, if it's been a quite a while since you've taken that course, you may want to refresh your algebraic skills in advance.

And also, high school maths is sufficient; statistics for science and engineering majors requires calculus and linear algebra. Statistics for maths and some computer science programs requires real analysis, such as measure theory, functional analysis, e.t.c

And as for 'Linear Algebra', You'll need a very basic intuition for geometry, basic algebra, like ssimultanous equations, and addition, subtraction, divition multiplication and so on . . .

Maybe some knowledge of vectors and matrices could help out when you begin, but a good linear algebra course can teach you what that is and all.
