Khan and Google Classroom sync issue

I have a class at Khan Academy with students in it, their work has been progressing for well over a year. They log in with their usernames (not email) and passwords, their accounts are child accounts under their parent's accounts.

I also have a class on Google Classroom with THE SAME students in it. They have google accounts with their own email addresses that were set up with Google Family Link so their parents still manage their accounts.

When I try to sync Google Classroom to my Khan Academy class, it always shows these students as pending and sends them emails to join. I need for them to be able to keep their current Khan Academy account as it is (with their badges, points, activity, history, mastery, and assignments). Is there any way to actually sync with Google Classroom and have these kids keep their accounts intact?

Hi Kristen,

Sorry for the late response here!

The only way to accomplish this would be to have all of the students add their school Google account to their Khan Academy account via their account settings. This would then allow them to use the Google sign-in option with their existing KA account, which would also then allow you to sync your KA class with Google Classroom.

The only issue with this is that students who are under 13 are not able to add their own email address to their KA accounts. If the students are older than 13 then this isn't an issue, but I'm afraid there's not a way to sync with Google Classroom in your scenario if the students are all under 13.

FYI: I had to "unsync" my class in settings, then sync it again. NOT just remove last year's students.
