Long Division (Remainder)
I'm helping my daughter with 5th grade math.
The question is 125/14
It asks for:
Answer =_________
Remainder=__________
Why does it want 8 R13?
Why is it not 8 R13/14?
The answer is 8 13/14
8 R13 is an incomplete answer. Why do we teach our children an incomplete story of what the answer really is? The remainder is literally 13/14. Not just 13. What is the advantage of teaching the remainder as a whole number?
