Guidance to study for GED (renamed: HiSET)
This post is regarding The General Education Diploma (GED; aka General Education Development).
Note: The GED is now referred to as the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET). I will use the term GED as it is more commonly recognized.
It would be great if Khan Academy would develop a course of study for the GED. According to other websites, the GED has four parts: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. If I am not mistaken, Khan Academy already has on their website most to all of the content required to support individuals in studying for and passing this exam.
I do not know if what I envision is possible, but it would be great if the GED preparatory class began with a comprehensive test to identify all areas of weakness (rated from major weaknesses requiring in-depth study to minor weaknesses requiring a cursory review). Then the program could supply links to content that would address each area of relative weakness. That would make it easier for the user to focus their time on the areas that would have the greatest impact on their success. After completing the identified content areas, a follow-up, comprehensive exam could signal to the student a strong level of preparedness and thus bolster confidence when taking the exam.
