Life Skills Curricula, Is there any easy way to find curricula that represents "basic knowledge" recommendations for all?
Is there any easy way to find curricula that represents "basic knowledge" recommendations for all?
Really, this question has three facets:
- What "practical", life-knowledge curricula are available?
- What do people need to learn?
- How can independent (and probably adult) learners best navigate / use the overwhelming content currently available?
Khan is an amazing resource that I believe is under-utilized. I believe that virtually all people could be learning something, always. I believe that most would, if education were more accessible. Generally, authoritative content is too hard to find. Even Khan - good as it is - remains unnavigable for the independent learner.
I came today to find a goal-oriented course to recommend. Specifically, I was seeking a curricula for someone wanting to pass a US Citizenship test. That's the type of "practical" knowledge I believe many might seek at Khan. Countless other examples are available.
However, such basic material is not easy to find, either at Khan or generally.
I believe people love to learn, but are over-whelmed by three questions.
- What do I need to learn?
- How do I find that content in an organized "checklist"?
- What help can I find to master it?
To me, this should be Khan's mission. But I'm not aware of any simple, easy answers; and they really must be SIMPLE and EASY.
