Hello this is Animesh from india . Presently i am a student of class 11 . It would be great if you could provide some content on Joule Thomson's effect with some background like why it is created in the first place . I have searched other places but couldn't find any background information on this theory.

The effect is named after James Prescott Joule and William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin, who discovered it in 1852. It followed upon earlier work by Joule on Joule expansion, in which a gas undergoes free expansion in a vacuum and the temperature is unchanged, if the gas is ideal.
